Tom McHale, a former NFL player who died last year of a drug overdose, was suffering from a Mild Traumatic Brain Injury known as chronic traumatic encephalopathy (or CTE). It has been revealed that six of seven former NFL players who died by the age of 50 had this disease, which is caused by repeated head trauma.
